Mingeon retires; Takes Trainer Position with Monaco
Bruno Mingeon, (FRA)LAPLAGNE, France (July 1, 2006)
World Champion and Olympic medalist Bruno Mingeon has retired from the French bobsleigh team. Mingeon, a member of the French team for 18 seasons, will now become a coach, taking over as a trainer with the Principality of Monaco’s bobsleigh team.
Mingeon, who drove the French 4-man team to a gold medal in the 1999 World Championships, was a bronze medalist in the 1998 Nagano Olympic Winter Games 4-man competition. Mingeon, who also won the bronze medal in two-man at the 1999 World Championships, competed in three Olympic Games. He carried the French flag during the opening ceremonies at the 2006 Torino Olympic Winter games.
Known as one of the best bobsleigh drivers in the sport, Mingeon finished fifth in the 2002 Olympic Winter Games 4-man competition.
